Build an abundance mindset

How to build an abundance mindset (Know 10 tips)

Winner, would you like to learn how to build an abundance mindset so you can make your frugal lifestyle a success?

Good. Because in this post, I’m going to share with you the tips that have worked for me. And will likely work for you too.

If you’ve started here, then you’re most probably looking to cultivate frugal living tips that will stretch your tight budget. especially in these tough economic times.

And for that, well done!

But make no mistake, Winner. Because successfully working from a tight budget requires that you FIRST adopt a different mindset: an abundance mindset.

Oh, if only I’d known this years ago! I’d have freed myself from the bondage of my own money a long time ago. And started enjoying my life sooner.

But better late than never, right?

And thankfully for you, with these tips, you don’t have to miss any time, Winner.

But first,

What’s an abundance mindset?

Simply, it’s holding the belief that there’re enough resources in the world for everyone. And yes, including you.

That means, you can stop side-eyeing what other people have. Because you can have it too.

That kind of coveting, does it sound familiar? Because it’s all too familiar to me.

And it comes from having a scarcity mindset. Which is the opposite of an abundance mindset.

And a scarcity mindset is basically the belief that the world’s resources are so limited that you might not get your fair share.

Important question for you, Winner!

  • Are you currently operating from a scarcity mindset?

Not sure? Then take the following SHORT QUIZ to find out.

Does the prospect of living frugally make you feel:

  • fearful?
  • apprehensive?
  • anxious?
  • unhappy?
  • deprived?
  • lonely?
  • poor?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above, then yes, you’re operating from a scarcity mindset. Because now you’re associating frugal living with lack.

And when you do that, living frugally becomes something you dread rather than something you enjoy.

But take great comfort in knowing that acknowledging your scarcity mindset is the first step toward building an abundance mindset.

Ready to learn how to build an abundance mindset?

Good. Because here are:

10 Tips to build an abundance mindset

Choosing to live in abundance is the key to build an abundance mindset

Tip #1: Understand that life’s resources are not limited to money

Whew! For me, this one was hard to swallow.

And who’d blame me? When our adult lives are spent chasing after money. And more money?

Don’t get me wrong. Because money is indeed an important tool in your life. And there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that.

But there’s more to life’s resources than just money.

In fact, life has many other resources that are more accessible than money. And you can enjoy them in their limitless supply, at no cost.

Important questions for you, Winner!

  • How big of a role does money play in your everyday life?
  • And is there a way you can reduce the magnitude of that role?

Tip #2: Stop defining your self-worth by how many possessions you have

Society looks to your net-worth to determine how much they should value you.

Pathetic, isn’t it? That your life’s worth will be reduced to how much money you have!

Winner, refuse to equate your self-worth with your net-worth.

And that’s because your possessions have no bearing on your intrinsic value.

Which is the value that counts.

Tip #3: Build an abundance mindset by never comparing yourself with others

I seem to be out to provoke you with these tips, aren’t I, Winner?

I know, because they’re calling me out too!

Keeping up with the Joneses will never benefit you because you can NEVER catch up to them.

Why?

Because truthfully, no matter how accomplished you become in your life, some people will seemingly be more accomplished than you are.

I say seemingly because they appear more accomplished from your point of view.

But know this: whether other people are seemingly or actually more accomplished than you’re, that doesn’t take away from you advancing in your life.

So, instead of wearing yourself out trying to keep up with everyone, choose to live your life on your own terms.

At your own pace. Being content with what you have at every point in time.

And oh! I must add, minding your own business.

In fact, instead of competing with others, complement them. And celebrate them.

The Holy Bible says:

Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.

1 Thessalonians 4:11

Tip #4: Learn to manage your resources better

You can’t stretch your resources if you don’t know how to even handle them in the first place. So, learn to:

  • nurture your relationships,
  • take care of your environment,
  • properly apply your gifts and talents,
  • etc.

But you need to go beyond just taking care of your resources.

In addition, you need to learn how to multiply them, so that you never run out.

Tip #5: Give back

Everyone has something to give back.

Yes, everyone is wealthy.

And an effective way to develop an abundance mindset is by choosing to give back instead of always taking.

You don’t feel like you have anything to give? How about giving a:

  • smile to a troubled colleague?
  • hug to a grieving neighbor?

Tip #6: Expressing gratitude is another powerful way to build an abundance mindset

In retrospect, this tip should’ve been the first one in the list.

And that’s because your life never truly moves until you start becoming grateful for it.

Be grateful for every moment of your life, just as it is.

Additionally, make peace with your past. Use your mistakes of the past to create a better today and tomorrow.

Tip #7: Be excellent at everything you do

In every aspect of your life, recreate perfection and make it attainable by doing your best at everything you do.

For example; my financial hurdle during this Covid 19 pandemic has left me feeling stagnant in terms of making money.

But despite that, I still get out of bed at 4am every morning to workout, do my chores, bath, and be ready for my day by 6:30am.

And now that I’ve decided to blog full time, I spend all day creating content.

In everything I do, I try to do my best. And that has definitely worked wonders for me.

Because I feel more in control of my life. In fact, I feel like I can do anything and succeed!

Tip #8: Renew your mind

This tip is crucial because your mind is the gateway to every other aspect of you.

Important questions for you, Winner!

  • What negative thoughts occupy your mind?
  • And what negative emotions do you experience most of the time?

When you have both questions figured out, figure this out as well:

  • Who have you been listening to?
  • And what have you been telling yourself?

Make a decision to stop absorbing any negative information. Whether from other people, or yourself.

And instead, allow only positive information in, so you can modify your life accordingly.

Tip #9: Build an abundance mindset by cultivating your spirituality

Cultivating your spirituality is a way to build an abundance mindset

Abundance is borne out of your spirit.

And that’s because your spirit points to your life being complete right now, just as it is.

And your spirit also disregards the definition of ‘poverty’ and ‘wealth’ as per the world’s standards.

For example, the Holy Bible says:

"We have everything we need in order to live a life that pleases God."

2 Peter 1:3 (CEV)
"Everything is yours, including the world, life, death, the present, and the future."

1 Corinthians 3:21-22 (CEV)
"Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth."

1 Timothy 6:6 (NLT)

Many more verses are available to you that point to you having more power than you realize.

So watch out for those verses in the near future.

Tip #10: Take small steps and be patient with the process

Transitioning from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset is undeniably a lot of work.

One that can’t be completed in one sitting.

But there’s no set time for how long it should take you to make the shift.

And if you do make the shift, the biggest mistake you could make, is thinking you’ve arrived. And then stopping to work hard at it.

Winner, it’s a lifetime-worth of work to develop an abundance mindset.

And you should cherish every step, even the seemingly backward one.

Be patient with yourself.

And let time also work its wisdom, resilience, and perseverance into you to cement all your hard work.
